Writers need writers.

You don’t have to write alone. Poets & Writers Groups can help you find and join the community you need to be inspired, stay motivated, improve your writing, and get published.

    Updated: Terms of Use

We’ve updated our Terms of Use in connection with significant improvements we’ve made to the Groups platform, as well as the introduction of our new paid membership program.

Please review the full Terms of Use carefully for further details and additional changes.  As a reminder, the Terms of Use govern your use of our pw.org website and associated services, including the new Groups platform.

Tip of the Day: Connect With Other Members

Office Hours is a group open to all Groups members to encourage conversation and connection. We hope it can be a place to ask questions and find like-minded writers to collaborate with.

If you find another member whose creative sensibilities match your own, the P&W Groups team can help! Send an e-mail to groups@pw.org and we’ll connect you in hopes of forming a new writers group together or joining an existing one.

For Group Organizers: How to Edit Your Group’s Details

If your group’s goals change over time, not to worry. It’s easy to update your group’s profile page to reflect those changes. However, it’s best to communicate any major updates or changes to your group’s members, particularly if you’re inviting more new members to join.

To edit your group’s profile details, first head to your Dashboard. Under “Groups I Organize,” find the group that you’d like to edit. Click the group’s name to head to your group profile page. Underneath the name of your group, click “Edit."

  • From Poets & Writers Magazine: How to Get Unstuck

Writer’s block is a phenomenon that (unfortunately!) plagues us all from time to time. In an essay from the Poets & Writers Magazine archive, Dennis Cass examines the commonplace, and sometimes, frustrating advice for getting unstuck alongside academic research on creativity to discover what really works.

Give Cass’s essay from the January/February 2010 issue a read. What’s the most creative answer you can think of when asked to name objects that are round? What works for you when you’re feeling stuck?

    Culver City Poetry Workshop

Hi! My name is Elizabeth, and I'm a high school teacher in Los Angeles. I'm in my late twenties, and I write poetry for fun (but also with the goal of publication). I would love to meet weekly (or biweekly) with folks around my age (20s and 30s) to workshop poems together in Culver City. If you're...

    Friendly Fun Poetry Critique

This group will offer constructive criticism of poems that are works-in-progress. I would like members to be able to post poems online so that the group can then offer comments online; online meetings will also be a part of the group. I'm sure it will evolve as we get to know what we all want. The...
