Prose from the Middle

This group will function as a study group, analyzing published literary short stories that are all accessible online. One short story to be discussed monthly. Although I had planned for a traditional workshop (where each member exchanges complete stories that are either in initial phase or rewritten 20 times), I decided it would be best if focus remain towards particular sections we need to hone.  I find that writers are their own worst critiques and intuitively "know" where they need a writer's perspective. As a reader/writer, I believe analyzing published, literary short stories (from the last ten years) helps writers best with the particular elements and techniques functioning within the literary short story. Additionally, by doing so, members will discuss evolving styles in the field. This group will be limited to members with academic workshop experience, and not those dabbling or switching to literary genre.
