About the Group

I'm an experienced nonfiction writer in the Twin Cities, looking to start a small group with other experienced nonfiction writers. About me: been writing about forty years, MFA at Cornell, taught writing courses, won several awards, been published (mostly in Orion). My themes center around nature, place, spirit. I'm transgender, figured that out in 2020, so LGBTQ+ has become a theme, as well.  Recently retired, I'm now focused  on building out my writing life: submitting work (after a long hiatus), making connections with other writers and a few small press magazines. I'm looking to meet writers in a similar place who'd like support and to exchange insights and experience.

I imagine the group running something like this: meet once or twice a month. Initial focus: share our experiences as writers; share our process and goals, and what we're looking for in the group; share insights, especially regarding the publishing and self-promotion side of the writing life. What do you know about Substack, personal websites, and other online media? I'd like to offer encouragement and camaraderie. After we get to know one another,  we can explore the matter of providing each other feedback on our work.

I've posted this "shell" of a group to create a space to chat with anyone interested in collaborating and launching a group. If after an initial exchange, we both feel it's worth pursuing, how about we give it a go and see where things lead? And...I wish you well!
