Seventies Recall the Seventies

This is a group for published writers of a certain age who have been tempted - and yet hesitant -  to write about their lives in the all-is-permitted 1970's. A younger editor persuaded me to look back on my own experiences ( bound and unbound) by convincing me of her generation's genuine curiosity about our edgy, experimental, antinomial adventures. I ended up with a 50 page novella and would like to complement it with something similar contributed by 2 -3 other writers with a view for publication. The questions we can discuss include: Why look back? Can we learn something from our younger selves that deepens our experience or self insight today? What is it we would like others who came after to know about the seventies? In my process, I realized how much of my social and religious upbringing I needed to exorcise. I confronted shame while purpose and daring decanted from the chaos. I also saw how sexual experimentation intersected with my explorations of dance, its performance and history. What began in reluctance yielded insight and self affirmation. Interested in doing something similar? How much of those days can you reconstruct? Together we can excavate and reclaim.
