About the Group

Have you ever wanted to read poetry but were afraid to open the book?

Afraid to be seen checking out a book of poems from the library?

Terrified to be caught buying a book of poems because you had no idea what it might say about you if someone caught a glimpse inside the brown paper bag?

Just want to know how to read poetry without feeling like a dumbbunny?

We'll meet every 2 weeks on Wednesday at 6pm Eastern time (7pm Atlantic time) on Zoom. We'll meet for one hour. Talk about 1 poem. What it means. How it works. How it achieves the effects it does.  I'll provide a copy of the poem up for discussion in the 'writing projects' section for the group.

Not to scare you but we'll be talking about the craft of poetry by reading and then examining one poem by someone famous, every 2 weeks.

Yes. You can suggest a poem. But, you don't have to.

To make you feel better, there will be NO homework.

This is not a workshop. This is a shared reading experience and discussion group about how poetry works.

First meeting will be on September 16, 2026.

I'll put the zoom link in the announcements.
