About the Group

Constraint-based writing can open unexpected doors. In this 10-session generative workshop, participants will respond to inventive craft prompts designed to produce new work while deepening awareness of craft techniques across genres.

Each session combines generative writing with short discussions of craft. Through playful and focused prompts, we’ll explore questions of voice, specificity, movement, compression, image, line and sentence architecture, point of view, hybridity, and revision. Prompts are constructed so as to be accessible to writers working in any genre.

Emphasis is on experimentation, discovery, and attentive reading. Sessions will often begin with acts of gathering: collecting language, observing, handling objects, making lists, or engaging with visual and physical prompts before shaping that material into new writing.

We meet every Monday for 10 weeks. Week 1 June 22, 2026 / Week 10 August 24, 2026.
