About the Group

I’m a poet, and I have to tell you that’s not a profession for the faint at heart. Especially if you submit. But mention “marketing’ and my knees start to quiver and I get faint, heart palpitations. It’s not really that much of an exaggeration.

An author’s platform is your ability to reach people who will buy your work. It’s turning all that pro bono work you do, all those fun meetings you attend, all those classes, workshops, convos at the coffee shop, into an opportunity to let others know that you are a writer. No. I do not mean pull out the sales speech. An author’s platform has to be something you can live with.

An author’s platform has to be something you can live with. It bears repeating. Make it your Wednesday evening mantra. That’s what this group is about. How can we do what is necessary in today’s publishing world and not go into a panic, or worse, put it off month after month after month. The group is here to help you manage the terror, to find things you can live with and still promote your work, and to actually get it done. Every second Wednesday, from 7PM to 9PM Atlantic time, we’ll gather, commiserate, encourage, share knowledge, and make one tiny commitment to action per session. Mine, this week, was writing this blurb. Next week, it’s posting it on Poets & Writers. And here we are—the future.
